Here is where the fairies meet
To sing and dance and wash their feet
And stay up late into the night
To take a moondrenched starry flight
To will the sun to crest the trees
Ensure all darkness chokes and flees
Down to the valley again they come
Content to know their work is done
The sky is dark and indigo blue
There perched on the horizon
A depthless swirling marble hue
That all the light will die in
We stumble through a noisesome haze
Up to a higher mountain
In search of blissful halcyon days
An ever-flowing fountain
But the waters aren't everclear
They flow up and back again
Through muddied, silted, pungent fear
That old familiar friend
But sifting through the muck and grime
You'll find a polished stone
Worn down smooth by hope and time
Through which the light is shown!
A tree falls in the forest olde
And mushrooms gather in a ring of gold
To sing a mournful, magic tune
A soft and gentle healing croon
Watch out for the fairy rings
And old oaks where the treetop sings
Don't wander off too far at night
Chasing some elusive light
Don't follow rabbits down their holes
Or beckon closer unicorn foals
Stay out the enchanted wood
And know it's for the greater good
Haikus:
Born from high mountains
I followed the waters down
To a crystal pool
